Fans of Indian and Test cricket captain Virat Kohali are Sotted creating a furore outsite the Chennai stadium on the occasion of Indian Bangaldesh test series


Before the first match between India and Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram stadium Chennai, fans rejoiced with Kohli chants and said how delighted they are to see him back in Test matches. A video that was taken at the time saw the fans waving their match tickets and chanting, ‘Kohli, Kohli’. The said video went viral on X (formerly twitter), and highlighted fans’ expectations to see Kohli back in the longer format cricket in India


Kohli's Return to Test Cricket: A Disappointing Start 

Virat Kohli who last featured in Test cricket series during the South Africa tour in January returned back to Test cricket after mostly featuring in one-day and T20 cricket series. Much was expected of him and he made a come back to the Test field at Chennai however, this was not long-lived.

Kohli came in at the fourth position for India and got out on a six after starting aggressively to bat from the wrong side of the pitch against Bangladesh’s Hasan Mahmud. A fast out-swing which was pitched on the off-stump reared up and just angled away from the bat to take Kohli’s outside edge and the ball was safely gathered by Liton Das who was standing behind the stumps, this gave a boom blast to the stadium. Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto won the toss and decided to field first. His decision was fruitful for him as Hassan Mahmud started to show performance, cleaning up the Indian top-order. Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli perished while playing Mahmud’s deliveries. The current Indian middle-order has the responsibility of consolidation after the pathetic show by the top order.

Despite the misery of that early exit, India possesses a formidable team with the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja in their ranks. Day one was a testing one for the Indians but the strength of the Indian bowling line up and its substantial middle order makes it possible for the team to stage a comeback. Spinners are expected to have the conditions suit their bowling style as the game progresses which will be key for India’s planning with Ravindra jadeja and Ashwin.
